The verdict of my experience: Yes, it's worth it.
(This is not a paid ad)

Yayoi Kusama is one of the world’s most influential artists, and has played a crucial role in key art movements of the 20th and 21st centuries. The first major survey of her work in Southeast Asia, this exhibition focuses on the immersive and expansive nature of her practice. Discover Kusama’s creative vision through paintings, sculptures, videos and installations from the 1950s to the present, including works never shown before. Step into her infinity mirror rooms, explore the development of her intricate nets, dots and pumpkin motifs, and encounter new paintings in which the artist continues to push artistic boundaries.

This exhibition is a collaboration between National Gallery Singapore and Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art, Brisbane, Australia.

Running out of dating ideas, or you want to head out but have no idea where to go for the day, or maybe you want to take good photos to post on your Instagram?
(I had the same problem too.)

Yayoi Kusama special exhibition would be in Singapore from 9 June to 3 September 2017 at National Gallery. Admission price differs based on individual's citizenship. Singaporeans or PRs are required to purchase the 'All Access Pass' for complimentary General Admission Ticket. Admission tickets prices at SGD $15 or SGD $10 (Concession-Holders) for Singaporeans or PRs. All Access Pass for Non-Singaporeans are SGD $30 or SGD $25 (Concession-Holder).

Please note that we visited the museum on 11 June 2017, Sunday. It's also a school holiday period for young children and secondary school students. We truly suggest you to purchase your tickets online even if it's not a school holiday.

We finally got our tickets after an hour of queuing at the ticket counter. Initially we were given a gallery map of National Gallery, but we requested another map for Children's Biennale 2017 since we have purchased 'All Access Pass' (You don't need to bring a child to visit Children's Biennale exhibition and it's free, so why not).

If your shirt is costly or wool quality, please don't paste the green sticker on your clothes. Besides, the sticker would appear unattractive in your photos.

Kusama has 4 exhibition rooms in National Gallery. First exhibition is located at City Hall Wing, Level 3. Look out for Kusama's wallpapers and crews standing in front of the door. You're required to show your tickets before entering each rooms.

Part 1

Some of the paintings would display a 'no camera' sign, so do keep a look out.

At the end of the first exhibition room, you will come across a little bright yellow room with black spots. I call it the Pumpkin Room.

This is the reason why.
We exited part 1, with more pumpkins outside and the next exhibition door is right in front of the exit.

MIRRORS AND INFINITY

4 pictures below can be disturbing. Viewer discretion is advised.
If you think what it is, it is what it is.
Here comes the main highlight of the exhibition and we were only given 30 seconds in this room.

End of part 2

Part 3 would show huge canvas of Kusama's Monochrome painting.
You will notice a mirrored box in the middle of the exhibition.
Next, a white room with colourful spots.

Afterwards, more huge canvas but with colours.
End of Part 3

Last but not least, a room of metal balls.

End of Kusama's Exhibition.

Total time spend in Yayoi Kusama's exhibition (including queuing) - 2.5 hours.

Now, it's Children's Biennale exhibition! Psst. Its free for Singaporeans.
(All of the 3 exhibitions shown below are located at the same level of the ticketing counter)

Obliteration Room
This is the place where everyone would be able to paste the colourful round stickers in the room, anywhere and everywhere. In collaboration with Yayoi Kusama's art.
By the way, the stickers are not free. It cost SGD $2. We do not feel it's worth it to purchase unless you're with young children, probably it's alright.

teamLab: Homogenizing and Transforming World.
It takes skills and speed to take photos without any humans around and unfortunately for me, I did not take a good photo from there.

Firewalk: A Bridge of Embers
We have encounter young children crying for help for their parents when.. their parents are holding them. I don't blame them, I got a little frightened but I reminded myself it's just a mirror reflecting another.

Children's Biennale has 10 exhibitions located around National Gallery, and exciting programmes including family workshops and guided tours.
Fret not, Children's Biennale exhibition is held from 20 May 2017 - 8 October 2017 (About 5 months). Parents, it's time to leave your work behind and start making time with your children!

Yet again may i remind you that this post is not a paid advertisement. It's based on my personal opinions.
